GATS 2018 Pongal & Kolam Contest - Program Entry

Entries are limited, Accepted first come, first serve.

GATS Cultural committee will review and confirm your participation.

Sakkarai Pongal Potti Guidelines (சர்க்கரைப் பொங்கல் போட்டி விதிமுறைகள்)

1. Contestants must be an active GATS member.

2. Number of participants per entry should be minimum 1 and not to exceed 5.

3. Registrations should be done on or before January 27th, 2018.

4. Registration may be closed earlier than January 27th, 2018  if enough registrations are received by then.

5. Contestants shall bring their own ingredients including STOVE, Water, vessels, spatulas, paper plates, spoons, and tissues.

6. Competition will be conducted at the venue between 12 pm and 2 pm on February 3rd, 2018.

7. Sakkarai Pongal should be prepared during the event and contestants would require to serve upto 5 adults

8. Sakkarai Pongal will be judged by the designated judges on the following aspects:

   1. Taste (40 points)

   2. Presentation (30 points)

   3. Creativity (30 points)

9. Contestants are responsible for cleaning their assigned areas after the competition and must pick up their belongings by 2:30 pm.

10. Contestants must bring their own cleaning supplies.

11. Results will be announced later during the cultural program.

Kolam Potti Guidelines (கோலப்போட்டி விதிமுறைகள்)

1. Contestants must be an active GATS member.

2. Number of participants per entry should be minimum 1 and not to exceed 4.

3. The theme for this year competition - Ullagengum Pongal Thiruvizha.

4. Registrations should be done on or before January 27th, 2018.

5. Registration may be closed earlier than January 27th, 2018  if enough registrations are received by then.

6. Competition will be conducted at the venue between 12 pm and 2 pm on February 3rd, 2018.

7. Kolam Potti will be judged by the designated judges on the following aspects:

   1. Theme (25 points)

   2. Creativity (25 points)

   3. Presentation (25 points)

   4. Completeness (25 points)

   5. For Bonus 10 points - There should be an additional ORGANIC ingredient other than Kolam powder / Sand.

 For example, you can use Rice, sea salt, flower, leaf fruits, dry fruits etc in addition to the Kolam powder in your Kolam.

9. Total size of the Kolam shall be limited to 4 feet by 3 feet.

10. Contestants must bring their own supplies for their kolam.

11. Contestants are responsible for cleaning up their kolam before 6pm.

12. Contestants must bring their own cleaning supplies Extra  care to be taken to make sure colors used in the kolam do not stick to the floor.

13. Results will be announced later during the cultural program.
