2015 Pongal Kalai Nigazhchi - Program Entry

Help celebrate 2015 Pongal Kalai Nigazhchi with family and friends.  This year, we are again looking for exciting program entries for the first and one of the biggest functions of the year!!  If you have an idea for a performance or you want to compete in an event, please take a moment to register your entry!  GATS committee will review and help you in your efforts to making this a great event.

Performance Guidelines

1. Each participating entry should have a minimum of 4 participants

2. The entries must be received before the deadline of Jan 11th, 2015. If we receive sufficient registrations early, we will close the registrations.

3. Any music/video/presentation files for your program should be provided during registration or by Jan 18th,2015

4. Repetition of a song in medley is allowed only for the first two entries. In case of the third entry, coordinators of the later submission must change the song.

Repetitions of Full songs are not allowed.  In case of such situation, the coordinator of the later submission must change the song.

5. The maximum time per dance program is 7 minutes

6. The maximum time per skit/drama is 10-15 minutes, strongly recommend that you prerecord the dialogues

7. The maximum time per music program is 7 minutes

8. All the entries will be accepted in first come first serve basis

·  Restrict yourself for registering more than two programs, in order to avoid slot conflicts.

· Time limit for program will be considered based on the requirement. If you have any special skit/programs which does not fit the above rules, please reach out to Cultural Committee for suggestions.

Kolam Potti Guidelines

1. Contestants must be a GATS member in active status
2. This is a team event - maximum of three members per team
3. There are no age restrictions - Any combination of family, friends, etc., is acceptable
4. Deadline for entries is Jan 21, 2015
5. Timing of competition is 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on event day
6. Scoring is based on theme, creativity, presentation and completeness (25% each)
7. Size of the kolam shall be limited to 5 feet by 4 feet
8. Contestants must bring their own supplies (kolam powder, etc)
9. Maavu, manal, or sea salt may be used for kolam
10. Use of color powder or flowers (fresh or artificial) is acceptable
11. Contestants are responsible for cleaning up their kolams at the end of the tea break.
12. Contestants must bring their own cleaning supplies (cleanex, clorox, broom, vacuum, etc)

Sakarai Pongal Potti Guidelines

1. Contestants must be a GATS member in active status
2. Deadline for entries is Jan 21, 2015
3. Timing of competition is from 1:00 PM to 2:00PM on event day
4. Competition will be for Sakarai Pongal only
5. Scoring is based on taste(75%) and presentation(25%)
6. Pongal shall be prepared at home and brought to the event; should be capable of serving 5 adults - we are planning to provide samples for audiences to taste.
7. Contestants shall bring their own vessels, spatulas, paper plates, spoons and tissues.
8. Contestants are responsible for cleaning their areas and must pick up their utensils by 3:30 PM

 Kids Painting Potti Guidelines

1. Contestants must be a GATS member in active status
2. There are no age restrictions 
3. Deadline for entries is Jan 21, 2015
4. Timing of competition is 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on event day
5. Scoring is based on theme, creativity, presentation and completeness (25% each)
6. Size of the painting shall be announced later
7. Contestants must bring their own supplies 
8. Contestants must bring their own cleaning supplies (cleanex, clorox, broom, vacuum, etc)
